Weapons of Mass
Destructon (WMD)
One of the main reasons for the invasion of Iraq
was the suspected presence of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by Iraq
and the possibilities that these weapons would be transferred to
terrorist groups. The intelligence community assessed that the WMD did
exist and were potentially dangerous to the United States - especially
in light of the recent terrorist attacks of 9/11. Despite an intensive
search throughout Iraq for WMD there was not much evidenced gathered to
indicate a robust WMD program.
